Reunited and it "Cheers" so Good!
DaWanda Bittle was not only a role model on the field for 10 years as a Carolina Panthers TopCats cheerleader, but is one off the field too. AlumniCheerleaders.com found out what DeWanda was doing after hanging up her poms.
I am currently employed with Wachovia Bank and work as a Financial Sales Leader, where I lead a group of tenured sales people. Additionally, I am the President of the Carolina Panthers TopCats Alumnae Association. I work with this group to help continue the sisterhood that was developed while actively cheering for the team while still working in the community. Further, I teach Liturgical Dance to children ages 6-15 at my church, Mayfield Memorial Baptist Church, and at another neighborhood church named St. Mark Methodist Church.
I cheered for the NFL Carolina Panthers for 10 seasons. I began my career with Carolina in the 1997-1998 season and cheered consecutive seasons through the 2006-2007 season. Prior to the Panthers, I cheered for the Arena Football Charlotte Rage in 1992 and the Minor League Football team the Charlotte Blast in 1995.
I definitely enjoyed my time cheering because dancing and cheerleading are my true passions. I have a love for all types of dance and to be able to do that while cheering for my favorite team was the absolute BEST. Building friendships with girls that shared that same passion was amazing. I held a captain’s position for 4 years and as a co-captain for 1 year. I enjoyed that because it gave me an official role to help management and other team members. Helping and assisting is something that I truly enjoy. Helping someone actualize their abilities and talent is something that I truly cherish. I also enjoyed being available to the local community by doing public appearances. As I grew up in Charlotte and being with the Panthers gave me a chance to give back to youths and be a role model for many of them. I enjoyed helping young girls decide to make positive lifestyle choices.
Cheering for the NFL Carolina Panthers changed my life in that it gave me a chance to grow my confidence, build lifelong friendships and have a major platform to dance. There were many opportunities for travel and see other parts of the world, if it were not for the Panthers, I may not have been able to see otherwise. I will never forget my years as a TopCat. It truly was the BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE.
