Reunited and it "Cheers" so Good!
Alumni Cheerleaders is excited to share this week's "After the Poms" story about member, Miranda Lobs (former Miami Dolphins Cheerleader). Let's find out what this busy and talented young lady has been up to.
Miranda tries to look at life through the filter of, “if you are going to look back in 20 years and regret NOT doing something, then go for it.” This mom of three has sure fulfilled many dreams and adventures by living life according to such a mantra.
Miranda began her dance training at the age of 7 and has over 20 years teaching experience. Her choreography has received numerous awards for “best overall”, “Highest Choreography”, and 1st place at regional and national competitions as well as national and international recognition with dance troupe tours. As the captain and choreographer of her college dance team, Miranda was able to carry her squad to a 14th nationwide ranking.
Professionally, Miranda was a Miami Dolphins Cheerleader for the 2003-2004 NFL season and a member of their elite traveling “Show-team”. She is currently a member of the Sweethearts for Soldiers, a non-profit organization of alumni NFL and NBA cheerleaders who volunteer their time for performances and appearances throughout each military division nationally and internationally, where she is Miss May in their 2012-2013 Troop Calendar. Miranda is also a member of the Science Cheerleaders which is comprised of professional cheerleaders with degrees and careers in the science industry. A masters degree in Psychology helped her to secure a job conducting psychological testing at a neuromedical institute for clinical trials on Alzheimer’s, Insomnia, and Depression is what Miranda did before having children and how she found herself eligible for Science Cheerleaders.
Having three children has not stopped Miranda from pursuing her dreams. In fact, she will be the first to tell you that becoming a mother is not only her biggest life dream, but is also the greatest accomplishment she will ever achieve. She actually utilized her next stage of life to write an authentic and funny portrayal of becoming a mom in her published book, “What No One Ever Told Me About Motherhood”. Since she has become a mom, Miranda has been able to put her past experience and expertise in dance and pro cheerleader to great use as the former Director of Cheerleaders for the NJ Revolution CIFL Semi-Pro Football Team and Dance Team Director for the NE vs. NJ All-Star Football Classic. Currently, Miranda is the NC Regional Director for Going Pro Entertainment, a national organization comprised of alumni NFL, NBA, and NHL cheerleaders, where she oversees all National conventions and consults pro cheerleader hopefuls in all facets of the audition process for professional cheerleading/dance teams. To date, Miranda has coached, choreographed for and consulted dancers who have made the Miami Dolphins (NFL), Atlanta Falcons (NFL), Jacksonville Jaguars (NFL), NY Jets (NFL), NJ Ironmen (MLS), NJ Devils (NHL), Jacksonville Tomcats (AFL), Tampa Bay Storm (AFL), and Jacksonville Barracudas (NHL) professional cheerleading and dance teams.
In addition to Miranda’s dance experience, Masters in Psychology, book, and beautiful children, she is also a certified group exercise instructor for Les Mills. You might be thinking that Miranda has just about fulfilled all her dreams and adventures. Not quite.
Miranda just celebrated the end of her first year owning her own dance studio, Pro Dance Academy, in Clemmons NC. After holding onto a lifelong dream of hers to open a dance studio, she and her husband Josh decided to take the plunge. "It is truly amazing", Miranda says, "to see God's provision in your life when you are obedient to his calling for you". It has never been more clear to Miranda, than now, to see that her God given talent is as a dance instructor. "I'm meant to use my dance talents and experiences to build children up and help them discover their own passion for dance. And glory be to God for helping me make that happen! It has been one awesome ride!" says Miranda.
