Danielle Ogletree Jarlock – Fundraiser for Ovarian Cancer Research

Here is Danielle Ogletree Jarlock, former Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader (1993 – 1999) and 1999 Pro Bowl Representive.  She may have stopped cheering on the field, but she is still cheering in her Grandmother’s (Geraldine Gladden “Nana”) memory for the fight against ovarian cancer.  She and her husband Jason will be participating in the 100 mile, 6 hour, century ride.  For more information and to make a donation for the cause, please go to www.ovariancycle.org and look for the team name “Nana’s Bananas“.

ovarian-cancer

Dear Friends,

This spring my husband and I are participating in a very special fundraising event called Ovarian Cycle to raise money for ovarian cancer research. This is an indoor cycling program that began in March with endurance training rides and ends on April 25 with a 100-mile, 6-hour century ride. We’ll be riding simultaneously with other committed cyclists in health clubs all over Atlanta. The century ride will be a tremendous challenge for us but we are excited to be able to do something real in the fight against ovarian cancer.

Our goal is to raise $150,000 for ovarian cancer research especially targeted at the development of a reliable, easy-to-administer screening test that doesn’t currently exist. Ovarian cancer is the deadliest of all the gynecological cancers partly because only 25% of cases are diagnosed in the early stages when the disease is most treatable.

Our family was touched by this disease when my grandmother, Geraldine Gladden (Nana), was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in the fall of 2004.  We lost her to the disease in November 2008, but she was such an inspiration in her 4 year fight that we are riding in her memory.  She was so proud when I did this ride a few years ago and we know she will be right there with us as we take on this challenge together this year!  Go Team Nana’s Bananas!!

  • Please take a look at the website at www.ovariancycle.org, hit the “Make a Donation” button on the left, enter one of our names or team name (Nana’s Bananas) to find one of our pages and designate the amount that’s right for you.

Keep in mind how far we are riding – and how hard we’ll have to train.

This year more than 25,000 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and more than 16,000 women may die. To do something bold about ovarian cancer, we hope that you’ll make a commitment to Ovarian Cycle by supporting me in our fundraising efforts.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Danielle & Jason Jarlock
