Bonnie-Jill Laflin
A San Francisco native, Bonnie-Jill Laflin attended the University of Texas where she studied broadcast journalism. While she is not the first female sports broadcaster, she is the first and only female NBA scout; scouting for the Los Angeles Lakers. Additionally, she is Assistant GM for the Lakers’ Minor League Team, the Los Angeles D-Fenders. Bonnie-Jill also holds a Super Bowl ring and three NBA championship rings. A bourgeoning philanthropist, Bonnie-Jill is a dedicated supporter of the troops and has traveled to Afghanistan and Iraq on several Goodwill and USO tours as the only female celebrity. She is also heavily involved in animal welfare issues and has done 2 international PETA campaigns and a PSA for the Humane Society to encourage compassion for all animals.
Bonnie-Jill Laflin is far from the conventional woman. She wears many hats from broadcast journalist to philanthropist; model and actress; to an ever evolving entrepreneur, and she strives to continually transform herself while maintaining her down-to-earth southern style. The former Miss Dallas-Fort Worth USA has worked in various broadcasting jobs, including host of ESPN2′s “SpeedWorld,” correspondent for ESPN’s morning show “Cold Pizza,”, host of NFL Network, cast member of Spike TV’s “Hotlines,” and correspondent for the LA Lakers on Sporting News Radio and KCAL/KCBS TV. Her newest television project, a reality show depicting her career in the male dominated sports world is currently in development, and is set to premiere late 2009.
Bonnie-Jill is passionate about supporting the troops, and the military is particularly close to her heart as both her grandfathers served in World War II, one is a silver star and purple heart recipient, and an uncle in Vietnam. Featured as one of STUFF magazine’s “Next Big Thing”, MAXIM magazine’s “HOT 100″, and FHM magazine’s “Most Eligible”, Bonnie-Jill parlayed her modeling career to traveling oversees on several Goodwill and USO tours. She recently returned from her fifth Goodwill tour in Iraq. Bonnie-Jill will be featured on the cover of the “Battlefield Babes” Calendar for 2009 with proceeds going to the Wounded Warriors Project.
As an actress and model, she has appeared in numerous television shows, print campaigns/commercials and music videos. She was the featured model/actress in one of 2005′s most popular Super Bowl commercials, “Fed- Ex” with legendary actor Burt Reynolds. She has been featured in Nike, Wrangler, Fritos, McDonalds, Coca-Cola, Carl’s Jr., Bacardi, Coors, Miller Genuine Draft and Budweiser advertising campaigns. And has also graced the pages of Fredericks of Hollywood. Bonnie-Jill landed a reoccurring role on the international sensation “Baywatch” after the show’s casting director spotted her layouts in a calendar. Laflin may be familiar to most television viewers who are not sports fans from her memorable multiple episode guest appearances on the long running FOX series, “Ally McBeal,” where she played “Billy’s” dream girl. She has made guest appearances on “Nash Bridges,” “The Jaime Foxx Show,” “CSI Miami”, and a model on the hit game show “Deal or No Deal”. She has been featured in music videos for such artists as Creed, Dwight Yoakam, Clay Walker, Little Texas and in Dierks Bentley’s “Come a Little Closer” video, which was named “Sexiest Music Video” by Country Music Television. Laflin has been featured in Sports Illustrated, Maxim, Stuff, FHM, GQ, Unleashed, OYE, Fitness Rx, Muscle and Fitness, Player and Razor magazines to name a few.
As an entrepreneur, Bonnie-Jill Laflin combined her love of fashion and sports and is the founder and CEO of the trendy NBA clothing line “Double Play Sportswear,” which is available in NBA arena stores nationwide.
Bonnie-Jill got her first big break just before her 18th birthday, when she was selected to the Golden State Warriors‘ cheerleading squad and was named Cheerleader of the Year by the NBA. A year later, Bonnie-Jill was accepted to the San Francisco 49ers Goldrush Cheerleading squad, earning her first Super Bowl ring (1994-95). A year later, Bonnie-Jill became a member of the most coveted cheerleading squad in NFL history, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, where she was on the cover of there internationally known swimsuit calendar and show group. She went on to work in basketball operations as well as a sports broadcaster for the LA Lakers where she earned three NBA rings (1999-00, 2000-01, 2001-02).
Bonnie-Jill currently resides in Los Angeles with all of her rescues Chihuahua/Boston Terrier mix, Diamond, Pug/French Bulldog Wilt Chamberlain and her two cats, Lollipop and Johnny Cash. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, boxing, running and spending time with her 2 racehorses. She is involved with many charitable organizations and donates her time to the Operation Baghdad Pups, ASPCA, Humane Society, PETA, American Horse Defense Fund, Special Olympics, Best Buddies, Soldier Fund, Injured Marines Semper Fi Fund, Wounded Warriors Project and visiting war veterans in VA hospitals and supporting the troops overseas and in the US.
